THE IRONBOUND BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT

welcome-to-the-ironbound

Visitors and locals have made Newark’s Ironbound District one of the state’s top dining and shopping destinations. Savvy foodies, shopaholics, and fun seekers, along with newcomers to the district’s fast-growing and attractive residential development scene have made the Ironbound Newark’s Live, Work, Play neighborhood.

Close to all of Newark’s top destinations, including the Prudential Center, NJPAC, Newark Museum, Newark Symphony Hall, and Red Bull Arena in nearby Harrison, the Ironbound’s position at the center of an incredible transportation network, with Newark Penn Station a gateway to the district and Newark Liberty International Airport just minutes away, adds convenience and connectivity.

Established in 2000, the IBID is led by a 13-member board and is funded through special assessments of commercial properties in the District. Since its inception, the Ironbound BID has upgraded and improved the District by focusing on quality-of-life issues such as sidewalk and street cleaning, parking changes and pedestrian signage, and other administrative tasks. The organization has embarked on an ambitious streetscape redevelopment plan that is transforming the Ferry Street and Wilson Avenue corridors into a first-class shopping, entertainment, restaurant, and residential destination for the city and the region.
Home to over 570 businesses and more than 170 restaurants and cafes, the Ironbound Business Improvement District (IBID) promotes interest in the City as a great place to visit in addition to fostering economic growth and employment opportunities.
